Master Bathroom

We decided to re-do the master bathroom. Originally it had a corner whirlpool tub and a stand up shower. We never used the tub and both agreed it was a waste of space. We were trying to think of something better for that space and decided to move the washer and dryer there from the basement.

I dont have many before photos of this one but the original bathroom walls were a very light blue color and the floor was vinyl (installed very poorly).
The tub took up a lot of space and the pump was extremely loud when the jets were on.
After we ripped the tub out, we were left with a gaping hole in the drywall and a decent sized hole in the floor where the plumbing came through. I ripped the plumbing out from the tub and ran new lines up through the wall for the washer. I also put some drywall up which would eventually be covered by wainscoting.

The floor underneath the vinyl was a mess. It appeared as though the builders dumped a bucket of adhesive down, threw the vinyl ontop, and spread it around with their feet. There were big chunks of dried adhesive everywhere. I spent about 10 hours with an oscillating tool trying to scape up the worst of the adhesive.
After scraping the subfloor, I put cement board down to prep the floor for tile.
Once the cement board was down, I wasready to start laying the tile. I also picked a darker shade of blue for the bathroom to give more of a contrast between the wainscoting and the walls.
After laying the tile and grout, sealing the grout, and painting the walls, I started fitting and painting the wainscoting.
Once the wainscoting was in place, my dad and I installed a vent in the wall and ran the electrical for the washer and dryer. We were then ready to bring the machines upstairs.
It is great having the washer and dryer right off of the master bedroom. No more carrying loads of laundry up and down the stairs. The bathroom looks great as well!
